Jos was one of the sizeable contingent of European beer aficionados who regularly came to London every August to work on the Bière Sans Frontières bars at the Great British Beer Festival. A distinctive figure, many readers will have known him by sight. He was a leading member of PINT, CAMRA’s equivalent in his native Netherlands, and he was active in the European Beer Consumers’ Union. Christine Cryne remembers him as being very committed to fair and well run beer judging and that he helped set the standards for EBCU beer competitions. Above all, he was good company.
