London Pubs Group

CAMRA’s London Pubs Group was established in the early 1990s to promote the preservation of the city’s historic and architecturally important pubs.  The group also contributes to CAMRA’s National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors, as described in our February/March edition.

Meetings are held regularly, six times a year, and are open to any CAMRA member who wishes to attend.  We are currently holding our meetings at the Trinity, 202-206 Borough High Street, which is almost next door to Borough underground station.  Details are listed in the Branch Diary section at the front of the magazine and online.

The group also organises pub tours around all parts of London and sometimes beyond.  These are also held about six times a year and are open to all, whether you are a CAMRA member or not.   Some are in the evening, usually on a Wednesday, and others are all day events on a Saturday.  The tours usually concentrate on historic pubs but occasionally we visit new or refurbished pubs in order to assess the quality of the design.  Not all pubs visited will be selling cask beer.

Our programme of events for the rest of this year is

  • Wednesday 15 April – Smithfield
  • Saturday 16 May – ‘out of town’ trip to Reading
  • Saturday 20 June – Midsummer Merton
  • Wednesday 19 August – Along the Mildmay Line
  • Saturday 17 October – Bromley, Petts Wood and Orpington
  • Wednesday 16 December – ex-Watney pubs in E1 and E2

I look forward to seeing you!
