On 7 July 2025, the Lord Tredegar in Bow was honoured to host a surprise party for Beyoncé. It wasn’t the American superstar who was the centre of attraction however but rather it was the pub’s resident black cat of the same name, who was celebrating her 10th birthday.
With the bar suitably decorated with bespoke bunting and party hats featuring her image, participants were offered face painting, two forms of cake (one for humans, one for felines) and competitions for both illustrating posters and designing cat themed beer mats.
There was also an opportunity to ‘pin the medication on the cat’ (not on a real one, it must be said). Beyoncé, queen of all she surveys, took all of the day’s events in her stride.
