Beer Day Britain 2024

As usual, Beer Day Britain, the grass roots celebration of our favourite drink, takes place on 15 June, with the highlight being the National Cheers to Beer (#cheerstobeer) toast at 7pm. This year, BDB’s instigator, the writer, broadcaster and pub expert Jane Peyton, is asking participants to think about those beer drinkers who are not able to get to the pub. Breweries are being asked to adopt a care home in their area and donate beer so residents and staff can join in the celebrations. For example, over the last few years, Timothy Taylor’s has generously donated beer to the Manorlands Hospice near Keighley.

For those who are unaware of the significance of the date, 15 June in 1215 is the date on which Magna Carta was sealed. In Article 35, the great charter specifies ‘Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure for ale and a single measure for corn…..’
