The regional director, a CAMRA volunteer, is elected at the Greater London Annual General Meeting that precedes the London Liaison Committee meeting on the last Wednesday of March. Geoff Strawbridge, who has held the role since 2014, gave notice at the AGM in March 2022 that he would not be standing for re-election in March 2023.
Nominations to fill the vacancy are now requested, to be submitted no later than 25 January. Ben Wilkinson, one of CAMRA’s national directors, has kindly agreed to act as the election administrator. Potential candidates, who must live within the region, should register their interest with Ben by e-mailing him at ben.wilkinson@camra.org.uk.
Nominations should formally comprise an indication that the candidate is willing to stand, with the signatures of a proposer and seconder who are CAMRA members from different branches within the region, together with a short biography and a statement of their interest in the role.
Geoff would hope that his successor will continue to enjoy the breadth and depth of support from other regional officers and branch activists, as well as from the National Executive and the professional staff, that has underpinned his tenure as regional director, and that the vacancy will attract plenty of interest.
