November 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>CAMRA is running its Pub Design Awards competition again this year.&nbsp; The deadline was 17 November for projects that were completed between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2025.&nbsp; Details were issued only after the previous edition had been published.&nbsp; The categories, as before, are New Build, Community Local, Historic England Conservation, Conversion to Pub Use and Refurbishment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year there was a London winner, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/camra.org.uk\/pubs\/forester-west-ealing-164284\"><strong>Forester<\/strong><\/a> in West Ealing winning the Community Local Award.\u00a0 CAMRA\u2019s London Pubs Group has identified a number of projects that look to be likely candidates and has encouraged the owners to enter the competition.\u00a0 More details can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/camra.org.uk\/awards\/pub-design?selected_year=2025\"><em>https:\/\/camra.org.uk\/awards\/pub-design?selected_year=2025<\/em><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/camra.org.uk\/pubs\/red-bull-peckham-158986\">Red Bull, Peckham<\/a><\/strong>. \u00a0Having been used as a shop and then a restaurant in recent years, the Red Bull returned to being a pub last year.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1024x768.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1024x768.png 1024w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-768x576.png 768w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1536x1152.png 1536w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image.png 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The interior has been modernised but it has retained some marvellous tiling, believed to date from 1875, which forms a mural depicting the trial of Catherine of Aragon, a scene from the Shakespeare play, <em>Henry VIII<\/em>.\u00a0 The trial took place in 1529 in Blackfriars and was part of Henry\u2019s campaign to annul his marriage.\u00a0 The tiling was the work of W B Simpson &amp; Sons.\u00a0 Consequently, the pub has now been added to CAMRA\u2019s National Inventory, rated one star.\u00a0 The pub does not however sell cask beer.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1-768x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5851\" srcset=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1-768x1024.png 768w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1-1152x1536.png 1152w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1-1536x2048.png 1536w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/image-1.png 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CAMRA is running its Pub Design Awards competition again this year.&nbsp;
