This is called, without any culinary pretentions, the Pie-n-Mash Club and has been going since 1994. The club meets for an informal lunch every three or four weeks or so at 1.11pm on a Saturday or Sunday at a selected pie & mash shop in London or the surrounding area, from Bermondsey to Folkestone. The lunch is usually followed by a visit to a local pub which, given that the organiser is a CAMRA member, is usually a pub serving cask beer. There is also a competitive element for those who wish to participate. Many traditional pie & mash shops are closing, so this has a campaigning element to it as well. Further details of the club and a list of future lunches may be obtained at pie-n-mash.com or by e-mailing info@pie-n-mash.com.
Colin Price

Those who enjoy London’s traditional dish, pie & mash, may be interested to learn that there is a club devoted to it.
