There are five categories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>New Build: newly built pubs, which can reflect the past or be completely modern;<\/li><li>Conversion to pub use: for outstanding conversions of buildings which were built for other uses;<\/li><li>Refurbishment: this ranges from a complete gutting and replacement to simply enhancing the design of the original pub;<\/li><li>Historic England Conservation: sponsored by Historic England, this award is given for work that conserves what is good in a pub for future generations;<\/li><li>Community Local: for outstanding refurbished street-corner locals.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>2021 WINNERS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were joint winners in the New Build category:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/whatpub.com\/pubs\/BEN\/585\/brewpoint-taproom-bedford\">Brewpoint<\/a><\/strong>, Bedford (Wells &amp; Co)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/whatpub.com\/pubs\/STA\/3111\/crown-wharf-stone\"><strong>Crown Wharf<\/strong>, Stone<\/a>  (Joules)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG_0689-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2939\" srcset=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG_0689-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG_0689-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG_0689-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG_0689-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/IMG_0689.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Brewpoint Bedford<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>No awards were made in the Conversion to Pub Use category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The refurbishment award had a winner and a highly commended:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/whatpub.com\/pubs\/SWD\/057\/kings-arms-dorchester\">King\u2019s Arms<\/a>, Dorchester (winner) (Stay Original Co)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/whatpub.com\/pubs\/CHS\/179\/bleeding-wolf-scholar-green\">Bleeding Wolf<\/a>, Scholar Green (highly commended) (Robinsons Brewery)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There were also joint winners for the Historic England Conservation Award:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/whatpub.com\/pubs\/MAC\/144\/castle-macclesfield\">Castle<\/a>, Macclesfield (Branching Out Two Ltd)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/whatpub.com\/pubs\/DON\/8143\/coach-horses-barnburgh\">Coach &amp; Horses<\/a>, Barnburgh (Don Valley Brewery)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Community Local:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/whatpub.com\/pubs\/ELC\/14485\/boleyn-tavern-east-ham\">Boleyn Tavern<\/a>, East Ham (Remarkable Pubs Ltd)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"750\" height=\"416\" src=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2938\" srcset=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-4.png 750w, https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/image-4-300x166.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>CAMRA\u2019s National Chairman, Nik Antona, commented, \u201c<em>We hope beer lovers across the country will seek out these examples of excellence and plan visits to them over the summer. It has been an incredibly difficult few years for the pub industry with a cost-of-living crisis now compounded by a cost-of-goods crisis, all hot on the heels of the Covid-19 pandemic. Let\u2019s all support our locals this summer and raise a glass to these shining examples in pub excellence<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>2022 AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations are now open for the 2022 awards (for projects completed between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022). The closing date is 13 November. The categories are as above. You can make a nomination <a href=\"https:\/\/camra.org.uk\/pubs-and-clubs\/awards\/pub-design-awards\/\">on-line<\/a>. The information required for submissions is quite comprehensive so you will need to be prepared before completing the application. Pub owners are welcome to nominate their own premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>PUB SAVING AWARD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is CAMRA\u2019s national award which recognises the achievements of groups that have successfully campaigned to save their local pub. The judges will take into account the following factors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>how the campaign was established, how it set its objectives and how it planned to achieve them;<\/li><li>how it gathered evidence and information relevant to its campaign;<\/li><li>how it engaged with the community and with pub users;<\/li><li>how it achieved publicity for its aims and objectives;<\/li><li>how it went about lobbying and influencing decision-makers;<\/li><li>most importantly, the successes it actually achieved.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The award covers the year ending 1 November 2022 and the closing date is 14 November.
