ROLL OF HONOUR<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I mentioned the Roll of Honour in the last edition but I have to admit that I had not fully understood how it worked. It is being continuously updated with new nominations. Those Greater London members who have been added in the meantime are Chris Bruton, \u2018Arry Hart, Alex Kovacevic, Colin Riddett and Jim Scanlon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PEOPLE AWARDS<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The final batch of awards, those to individuals and groups who have contributed to CAMRA\u2019s aims over the last 50 years, has now been announced. As well as individual CAMRA members, the list includes people from the beer and pub trades and politicians. Also automatically included are:
\u2022 all current and former regional directors;
\u2022 all current and former campaigners of the year;
\u2022 all 40th anniversary campaigners;
\u2022 all 25th cider anniversary campaigners;
\u2022 all current and former staff.
Those Greater London members included in the 40th anniversary category are: Bill Austin (Watford), Chris Bruton (West Middlesex), Christine Cryne (North London), John Cryne (North London), Michael Hardman (CAMRA Founder) and John Norman (Kingston & Leatherhead).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New awards have gone to Alan Barker (South West Essex), Laura Emson (North London), John Hanscomb (Watford & District), Sue Hart (formerly South West London) and Tony Hedger (South West London).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Awards were also made to Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, and former prime minister Gordon Brown. Mr Brown has been included because Small Brewers\u2019 Duty Relief was introduced during his tenure as Chancellor of the Exchequer. The measure has had a significant impact on the nation\u2019s brewing industry, encouraging many new small, independent brewers and considerably widening the choice available to the consumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Khan\u2019s award is in recognition of the Greater London Authority\u2019s willingness to work with CAMRA\u2019s Greater London Region, resulting in the inclusion in the London Plan of pub preservation measures which are among the most comprehensive in the UK.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
