{"id":1276,"date":"2020-09-29T21:11:35","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T21:11:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1276"},"modified":"2020-09-29T21:12:47","modified_gmt":"2020-09-29T21:12:47","slug":"pub-design-awards-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/index.php\/2020\/09\/29\/pub-design-awards-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Pub Design Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Having given you the <a href=\"https:\/\/londondrinker.camra.org.uk\/wordpress\/index.php\/2020\/05\/27\/pub-design-awards-winners\/\">winners of last year\u2019s competition<\/a>, I\u2019m pleased to be able to tell you that, despite our current problems, the awards are being held again this year. Unfortunately, the closing date for nominations is 30 September (for works completed in the period between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020) so it will have passed by the time most readers see this. I thought that you would like to know that it was still being held, all the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The awards are organised by CAMRA in association with Historic England and they aim to recognise the highest standards of architecture in the refurbishment and conservation of existing pubs, as well as in the construction of new ones. They are judged by a panel of experts in design and conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are five categories:<br>\u2022 <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Conservation <\/span>\u2013 sponsored by Historic England, this award is given for work which conserves what is good about a pub so as to ensure its future for generations.<br>\u2022 <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Refurbishment <\/span>\u2013 this can range from a complete gutting and replacement to enhancing the design of what was originally in the pub.<br>\u2022 <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Conversion to Pub Use<\/span> \u2013 this is awarded for the conversion of an existing building to pub use and judged on the taste and restraint used on the outside and inside of the building.<br>\u2022 <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">New Build<\/span> \u2013 for newly built pubs, either in in traditional modern style.<br>\u2022 <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Community Local Award<\/span> (formerly the Joe Goodwin Award) \u2013 for the refurbishment specifically of street corner locals.<br><br>You can find more details <a href=\"https:\/\/camra.org.uk\/pubs-and-clubs\/awards\/pub-design-awards\/\">here<\/a> .
