On 24 April CAMRA’s Enfield & Barnet branch held a special event at the Bohemia in North Finchley (N12 9QH) to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. We wish to thank all who attended, including members from neighbouring branches, North London, South Hertfordshire and East London & City.
The evening was enjoyed by all and featured a short speech by branch chairman Peter Graham. The Bohemia is the home of the London Brewing Company and in honour of the occasion Alex Woods, their head brewer produced a special beer for us called Fiftig, the Anglo-Saxon for fifty.
Alex explained that the recipe was based on ingredients that were popular fifty years ago, including amber malt and Bramling Cross hops; this was the only hop used. The result was a satisfying 5% ABV dark amber beer with a noticeable fruity aroma and flavour. Needless to say, it went down well on the night!
